If you live in or are visiting the area of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, do not miss having dinner at the Italian House and Grill. My husband and I continue to be thrilled with the food, service and atmosphere. Try the chef inspired dishes, the calamari...well try everything...we have never been disappointed. We usually save our visit to the Italian House and Grill for special occasions and indulge. It's a gem of Arkansas.

This is without doubt our favorite place for Saturday night dinner when we stay at the Mountain Thyme B&B in Jessieville. Our inn host made an 8 pm reservation for us and we were glad she did - when we arrived just before 8, ours was the only table unoccupied. My friend and I had already decided to share an order of crab cakes since when he ordered them before he couldn't finish all the generous helping of pasta. The chalkboard showed that a bowl of gnocchi soup was only $3.00, so hubby and friend went for that for their appetizer, while I ordered the grilled shrimp cocktail. The gnocchi soup was heavenly, and the grilled shrimp cocktail gave us 6 large and nicely seasoned shrimp. We told the waiter that we would be sharing crab cakes and expected that he'd bring the regular serving along with an extra plate. We were pleasantly surprised to be served two dishes, already divided. The crab cakes and pasta in cream sauce were outstanding. The owner came by to say hello as we were finishing our meal, and brought us complimentary glasses of limoncello, a refreshing end to dinner. We learned that the restaurant is under new ownership, but with the same chef. Good move on the new owners' part - the chef definitely knows what he's doing! We would not hesitate to recommend Italian House, we've been three times and they hit home runs each time.

Would give a zero. Just walked in and there were several empty tables. Server said wait a moment and came back and said sorry but we don't have anyrhing available for families. I think it was more discrimination, since we are a mixed marriage. I would not recommend at all! Also observed another family go in and they were seated.

Very nice surprise after reading some of these reviews. Good service and excellent food at a reasonable price. Good atmosphere, nice quant setup with good Italian music. Wide range of price selections. Hope they get the support to keep the level of quality up. A stronger cup of coffee to finish the meal off would have been great.

Well, it's "fine" dining in Arkansas, so I wasn't expecting a miracle... and I didn't get one either. It's at the end of a strip mall. This place is TINY... like really tiny.. I think there might be 8 tables total. We had to make a reservation on a Wednesday at 7. Being from a suburb close to Detroit, this was no fancy place to me, but to people in Hot Village Springs, this place is "fancy". We ordered wine and looked at the menu. The goat cheese balls sounded promising so we ordered that first as an app. It came with 3 and there were 3 of us so... wait for it... We all had a ball!! They were pretty tasty. Snarf. But I digress. I ordered the Picatta with chicken (not on menu).. I don't remember what BF ordered and mom ordered fettucine alfredo with chicken. Nothing was too memorable. I could have been eating at Olive Garden. My chicken was not even breaded, it was completely white. So, basically boiled chicken breast with some loose lemon sauce and a few capers sprinkled on top. Didn't excite me a bit. The big deal at this place is their homemade cream cake which, of course, they were out of. I'm sure we'll go back because its close to where mom lives, but fine dining it is not.

For sweet romantic dining make a reservation here. We have dined here recently ( as well as many times before) I always have the (home made fresh lump)crab cakes over fettuccine and Alfredo. My DH has it with the red sauce. Our daughter and her DH ( when they are in from Fla) always request to dine here and they love the Vodka sauce. The salads are wonderful but my goodness! Just ORDER the pasta. The new owner is ( couldn't believe it was possible) even better than the old ones. He bought around little chocolate Martinis after we had finished our meal. They have fine coffee as well as wines. Candlelight flickering on white tablecloths and crisp black linen napkins. You will love it!'

This is a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy dinner. From start to finish our dining evening usually takes 90 minutes, and its a very relaxing time. The restaurant came under new owners 6 months ago, which may change the results of other diners. While it's not on the menu any more, I recommend asking about the creamed spinach soup. You might luck out and get a bowl! My favorite meal is the filet with carbonara, but I'm not as impressed with the sides of the dish. All in all a great place to eat and not too pricey.

Some of the best Italian food we've ever eaten. Four of us ordered different things off of the menu and all were excellent. Small intimate restaurant with great service and friendly staff.

I understand that all restaurants have a problem with bug and rodents, this is just inherent to the business. All though I didn't have any problem with the food, as I was eating I observed cockroaches crawling out of the outlets and cracks in the wall. I feel this was an extraordinary infestation problem. The food and service was good, not sure I will ever return.

This was by far the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. I don't know what restaurant these other people went to because it sure doesn't sound like the same place to me. Yes, the place had nice atmosphere and I have no complaints with the waiters. However... My husband ordered eggplant parmesan and his order came out in a bowl with practically NO eggplant, SWIMMING in marinara and covered in cheese. My primavera also came out looking like soup with a little bit of angel hair pasta on the bottom. My husband called the waiter over and mentioned that he could barely find any eggplant in his meal and in turn the waiter brought over the owner who told him that that was the way it was made at his restaurant. My husband husband said okay but thought about it a few minutes. Eggplant Parmesan should have EGGPLANT in it. The owner came back and rudely asked what my husband wanted him to do about it ...bring out some eggplant? My husband said that would be nice. At the same time I asked if maybe he could bring out a little pasta (so I didn't have to try and eat my primavera with a spoon). These things were brought out and I thought everything was taken care of. At NO time were either one of us loud or disrespectful and at NO time were we told that these corrections were going to be added to our bill. When the check came, we were charged around eight dollars for extra eggplant and pasta. We did not understand why we were charged extra for something that should have been in the dish to begin with so we asked them to remove the extra charges. The owner came out and belligerently spat out, "YOU'VE BEEN COMPLAINING SINCE YOU CAME IN. YOU ATE THE EXTRA FOOD SO PAY YOUR DAMN BILL AND DON'T EVER COME BACK AGAIN." I swear at no time were we ever nasty or rude to anyone and did not deserve to be treated this way. No customer should be treated this way. I have eaten at restaurants all over the world and have NEVER had this kind of attitude at any of them After that, I did not eat the extra items that were boxed for fear of them being 'tainted." They were thrown in the garbage which is where they probably belonged in the first place. AND NO, he doesn't have to worry about us ever going back there.

I ate there once. When I moved to the Village about 3 years ago. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that my lasagna tasted EXACTLY like the kind you can buy in the frozen food section at the supermarket. It was pretty bad. I haven't been back to the Italian House, and don't plan to. Ever.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
